Every quarter, Barconwood News will feature a staff profile. Today it is the turn of Christian Drysdale, our Project Field Sales Executive. I sat down with him to chat about his work and life and find out what makes him tick.
Q: How long have you worked for Barconwood and what does your job entail?
A: I have worked for Barconwood for a year now and I am thoroughly enjoying my job role and the challenges that it brings. My role is to build and maintain our prestigious client base and to see projects through from concept through to launch on a UK wide basis. I work closely with our clients and there senior leadership teams to bring their visions for their hospitality areas to life from an aesthetic stand point.
Q: What do you most enjoy about your job?
A: There are so many aspects of my job role that I enjoy so just talking about what I most enjoy doesn’t seem fair! However the creative side to my role is an area that stands out for me the most. Travelling to meet and present to different faces is also on a par. Seeing my work come to life has a real sense of satisfaction alongside my clients being thrilled of their new hospitality space is a huge area of fulfilment and enjoyment.
Q: Tell us a bit about yourself.
A: I am a father of one and I was born in 1991. Music is a big part of my life and piano is my favourite instrument to play (when I get chance). Rugby is my favourite sport to watch especially the 6 Nations. I enjoy learning and doing a bit of wine collecting on the side as a bit of a hobby!
Q: Where did you grow up?
A: I grew up in a beautiful little village deep in the Yorkshire Dales call Gargrave. I attended Giggleswick School which ironically one of my clients manages the catering for!
Q: Who are your heroes?
A: Sir Winston Churchill has to be one of them, his determination to succeed when all was against him is in my opinion commendable. Another hero has to be Captain James Cook, how could he not be? “The great explorer.”
Q: What’s your idea of a perfect day?
A: It would have to involve waking up in a lovely warm climate such as “Greece” on a yacht and spending the day with my wonderful fiancée and my son doing some island hopping eating different foods and having a glass of a well selected wine!
Q: What has been your favourite place to visit?
A: This has to be an island called Tortola one of the British Virgin Islands. I flew out there to pick up a yacht. This was my starting point for my Trans-Atlantic crossing. Just a stunning area of the world.
Q: Favourite meal?
A: I have two! Cottage Pie and a Roast Chicken dinner with all the trimmings. (Lots of crispy skin).
Q: Best bit of advice you’ve been given?
A: “What you put in, you will get out” and “Always do the right thing”
